Generally, most instrument repair work falls into one of two categories: Play condition or Repad/Overhaul.
This is usually minor to medium work to return your instrument to a condition that it plays properly. For woodwind instruments, this usually means to change or adjust a few pads (or up to 50% of the pads) or reset the regulation on the keywork. For Brass, this nearly always (95%) requires cleaning, even if no dirt is visible.* It can include minor dents or adjustments. For Orchestra instruments, this can include changing one or more strings, or other adjustments.
For Woodwinds, all pads and corks are removed and replaced, the instrument is cleaned and keys are polished or buffed as possible. All adjustments and key fittings are restored.
In general, it means returning the instrument to as close to new as possible. For brass and Strings, this service is not yet available, but might be available through subcontractors. However, in certain situations, an “economy overhaul” might be possible. Contact us if you need more information.

* This cleaning uses specially designed cleaning agents (not available to the general public) and/or machinery that make the inside tubing clean enough to allow for optimal airflow. It also prevents spots of dirt or mineral deposits from damaging my repair tools (a major investment of several thousand dollars).
